🥮Happy mid-autumn festival to everyone celebrating!🏮
As I’m on my mission to learn more about different cultures and cuisines here is some information about mid-autumn festival for those of you that don’t know it ☺️
.
Mid-autumn festival is also called ‘Moon Festival’ - primarily celebrated in East and Southeast Asia.
It is believed that on this day the moon is at its brightest and fullest size.
Lanters of all sizes and shapes are carried and displayed. Mooncakes (rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean or lotus-seed paste) are gifted and eaten during this festival.
.
Last weekend I made a trip to China Town and admired the lantern decoration 😍
I also got my first ever mooncake from a Vietnamese shop filled with egg yolk and lotus paste (review available in my stories today).
I hope that next year I’ll be able to properly enjoy the mid-autumn festival atmoshphere and try some more Mooncakes as I really find this tradition amazing! 🌝
